7 KEE First Lady (GI)
$750.000 3yo&Up F&M 1m Turf 3yo 121 lbs Older 124lbs
Huge purse on the line in the First Lady (GI), a flat mile turf stakes for the ladies and we have a very nice group set for this one. I’m taking Ewa Beach as the top selection despite the fact that she hasn’t won since Jan, her first start of the year. She has been close in just about every start, facing the top turf mares, and this may be the spot for her to win. Another that deserves a big chance, and may be your post time favorite, is Versailles. She’s won a pair of Grade I in her last three starts, so there’s no further comment needed.
Here’s The Field –
The good news is she’s been on the board in five of seven starts this season, the bad news is the two off-the-board starts were her two graded starts. Last of twelve in the FG Stakes (GIII) and a sixth in the Penny Mem (GIII) at PRX. She’s going to have to prove me wrong.
Three wins this year including the Just A Game (GI) and the Beverly D (GI), in her last three starts, so you can tell she’s hitting on all cylinders right now. She looks the part to me and will definitely be on all of my tickets.
She’s won three of her last four starts including the De La Rose at SAR in her most recent, so… up the ladder we go. She looked REAL good in that SAR win, and that was going today’s distance, so she could spell upset.
Got her biggest win of the year taking the KD Ladies Turf (GIII) at KD in her most recent trip to the starting gate. She was second vs. stakes company prior to that win, so she may be coming into form at just the right time. She could be tough today.
Two big wins from her last three starts including a wire to wire score in the Gamely (GI) and another big win in the Ballston (GII) at SAR. She’s a handful every time she goes to the gate and I expect another big run today.
Hasn’t won since her second start of the year, and has been close in a couple of big race, but she’s been sixth/fourth/seventh in her last three starts. Can she turn it around today and make a splash?
Won the Nassau (GII) two back, but followed that up with a last of six finish in the Beverly D (GI) but if she can run back to that WO race, she’d be right in the thick of things, I’m just not sure that she’s running the same right now.
Got the job done last out taking the Anchor at CD, and she just missed in a pair of graded races prior to that victory, both only beaten a length. She’s running well right now and is a horse that should be used on all tickets.
This race mare is about as tough as they come, winning twelve races in her thirty-two race career, but her only ’22 win came back in Jan, when she took the Pegasus F&M Turf (GIII). She’s been close in just about every start, all vs. top notch company… she can run.
The big barn looks to get this one going, as she’s hasn’t had her picture taken since May when she took down Alw foes at WO, and she hasn’t been on the board since. Still, you know this outfit brings them to win, so she may be worth the price.
