Back-to-back wins in the OK Derby (GIII) and the Fayette (GII) so it’s back to GI type horses where he hasn’t fair quite as well. Was eleventh in the Travers, but this seems to be a bit softer than that bunch. Give him a big look and a big chance in this one.
Was fifth only beaten a length in the BC Dirt Mile (GI) but he just doesn’t seem to be running to his mid-summer form. He won the IND Derby (GII) and the Pegasus (GIII) so he certainly has some ability. I think I have to look at a few others.
Here’s one that is certainly figuring it out… 0-for-4 last year but since breaking maiden, he’s been getting good… real good! Won and Alw, third in the DMR Derby (GII) then won the Marathon (GII) at KEE. He should be right in the middle of this one and I’d guess will be right there for the post-time favorite.
First or second in seven of eight starts this season, but only his second time going after black-type horses. He was second in the Durham Cup Stakes (GIII) to BC Classic winner Viking Shield, so … well, you get it.
Beat one of BC Day when thirteenth in the BC Dirt Mile (GI). Prior to that, he’d been on a roll, winning three of the previous four starts, including the BC Derby (GIII). He has tactical speed and that’s just going to add to the front end dual in this one.
