RACE 8 SAR The Lake George (GII)
$200.000 3yoF 1 1/16m InTurf
Has been away from the race since May when she chuck an absolute dud of a race at PEN. That was coming off of a graded win at KEE, so I’m just not sure what happened in that race. She shows a stead string of morning gallops getting ready for today, but I’m just not sure what to expect – perhaps it’s time to watch one.
Nice win last out in a stakes at AP and that was outside of the LA-bred races she had been going after. Two stakes wins from seven starts this season, so you know she has a bit of ability. They move her over to the turf course, which will be her first try on the lawn. She doesn’t even show a gallop over the green stuff, so she’s a bit of a question mark.
Classy filly threw a dud last out when tenth in the BEL Oaks (GI) but she is that type of a horse – she was second before that in Grade I company, so she certainly has ability, but she usually is either right there or she goes on back to the barn at the top of the lane. I expect a good effort here.
Undefeated this season up until that second place finish last out while facing graded horses again. More of the black-types here, but you certainly have to give her a serious look off of those wins – all on the grass, all at a mile or today’s distance – you get the idea… she can run a bit.
Has been third three times since being purchased – that was a black type at CD last out, and she’s been on soggy grass in her last two. She’s a big filly and certainly knows how to close in the late stages and I think she could be rolling late here, perhaps to get a small share of the pie.
