It’s a small but evenly matched group of Empire State fillies, set to go the extended sprint seven furlongs on the lush lawn, and we look at the field for the NY Stallion Stakes – Joy, here in Elmont.  I’m going to take Pippin as the top choice today as she has been a solid filly vs. open stakes types, and this may be softer for a very solid racehorse.  Let’s go right next door and put Liberty Lake in the middle of things as she just beat similar on the dirt in the Bouwerie, here at BEL.  Her works say turf will be to her liking, so I think we have a solid exacta 1/2 in a very good group.

Kicked off the year with a win in the Ginger Brew at GP, then just missed in the Sweet Life (GIII) before tiring to be fifth in OptAlw company, both of those in SoCal.  Comes back east looking for another stakes win vs. state bred and that could land her right back in the winner’s circle.

Lit the tote when taking the win vs. similar in the Bouwerie, over this surface last out… and another perfect example of odds meaning nothing more than fun and games for the contest.  She won vs. Nx1 at LS prior to the stakes score and should be right in the thick of it here.

Super nice horse that was second in debut and has three wins since that… Broke maiden at AQU, then beat Alw types at GG before beating NY OptAlw fillies here last out.  She loves the front end, and I’d expect more of that today.

She’s been tough of late, breaking maiden at GP, then just missing in the Lacombe at FG by a nose before a runner-up effort here vs. NY OptAlw types.  I’d look for her to be a factor and is another with good speed.

She never seems to run a bad race and has been solid in both turf tries.  Broke maiden at TAM then just missed after setting the pace at LS vs Alw types.  She has five seconds from seven starts, so I think you see she’s solid as a rock.
