Failed in his last two, both over this course, after winning his debut on the change of barns back in March. That was a gutsy effort in the SF Mile (GIII) where he got up to win by a nose. They took him down to SAR to work a mile over that track, which was a nice bullet move, so he looks ready to give another big effort.
A win and a second before tiring badly in he late stages of the Manhattan Hcp (GI) at BEL in his most recent. He shows two wins over this course last year and that was during a 5-race win streak. Just doesn’t seem to be the horse he was last year, but he certainly is capable of firing a big one and getting the job done.
His TC aspirations kind of went up in smoke, but he seems to have found new life since switching from the main track to the turf course. Those were against lesser company that he had been facing, and this certainly is a tough field to go up against today. He may surprise me, but that’s just what he will have to do – I’m liking some other a whole lot more.
Three consecutive wins since the Vet truck pulled into the barn for the most unkindest of cuts. Seems to have gotten his mind onto winning races. This is an acid test compared to any race he’s been in up to this point. I think the barn would be happy with any check out of this one.
His only seasonal win came back in Feb in the Diamida (GII) but he has been close in all of this year’s races. Decent runner-up try over this course last out, and that was at the marathon distance. This may be a bit more to his liking and could be a place to get back into the winner’s circle, if he can overcome the post. I’d play him in the tri – that’s for sure.
