$300.000 4yo&Up 1 1/16th Dirt 122lbs
In the shade of the old oak trees, we head to DEL for the DEL Oaks (GIII), a mile and a sixteenth stakes for the sophomore fillies and my story line for this one is short and sweet… Lucky Star. She looked good wiring the Edgewood (GII) field at CD and it was impressive enough that Maxmillion Farm plunked down $800.000 for the bay filly. I think anything close to a repeat of that should get the job done here.

She’s been a bit hit-or-miss this year, winning two of five starts with a third, all vs. stakes types, but she was seventh in the Davona Dale (GII) and tenth in the KY Oaks (GI). She tired in both of those races, but speed is her game and I’d expect her to be out there winging it again today.

Five seasonal starts, but she’s yet to really pose a threat, although that fourth beaten a length last out may have been a glimmer of light. She ran big in some big races last year, so if she can find some of the old magic, maybe she can get part of this one.

Lucky Star | Maxmillion Farm | Maldonado E | 122 | 7/2 |
Solid filly that got back to the winning side of things last out taking the Edgewood (GII) at CD. She sold after that race and the new barn looks to get some money back today. She should fit nicely and I’d expect a big effort today.

So Blitz | Asgar | Wilson E J | 122 | 10/1 |
She broke maiden back in Jan, taking down NY types at AQU, and was second in the Suncoast at TAM, then third in the Busher at AQU. Her last two have been less than thrilling, but her best could put her in the picture today.

Koala Hugs | Ace Racing Stable | Santana R Jr | 122 | 12/1 |
Broke maiden at PEN taking down PA-bred types, then was off the board in two Alw race, one on the dirt and one on the turf, so she’s going to need to run her best to be any part of this group.
