Queenston Stakes- $125.000 Purse
WO- For Three Year Olds Foaled In Canada
Seven Furlongs on the Dirt
May 19, 2019
A small field of four is set to go to post on Sunday for the 13th running of the Queenston Stakes up north. It’s for three year old Canadians, and run at seven furlongs. We’ll take a brief look at it here, as this field, in all honestly, is not much more then an allowance crowd as there is no clear favorite and no one in this field has more then $76.000 in career earnings. Better days may be in store, and this could be a catapult race for that.
#1- Cool Fonzy (Maxmillion Farm, ridden by J M Campbell)- Acquired by the trainer in private sales for $55.000 from Greeko Holdem after he disappointed in the Mine That Bird Derby. Unable to follow that up well in her Maxmillion debut, running fourth in a statebred allowance last month. Perhaps the mud had something to do with it.
#2- John Pussycat (High Voltage, ridden by L Contreras)- Also ran in the Mine That Bird, but had a much better showing, running in third and playing a big part of his $75.720 in career earnings. He’s won four of nine, and while a lot of them are not stakes, technically, this isn’t much more then what she faced there.
#3- Space Commander (Joshua Stables, ridden by E J Wilson)– Comes into the race after breaking his maiden in his last start, something that took her nine tries to do. He has fared well for Joshua since he acquired her in the December auction, and there’s no reason to think he can;t get it done here.
#4- Private Cool Cat (Onlineracingclubcom, ridden by J Lermyte)- Horse selling park at its finest here, with three sales transactions before he even ran a race. Five times he has switched trainer hands in total, and he has just five races. Most recently, though, it was a claim, as he was picked up for $40.000 in late January from Mb Stables. This is his first race for Onlineracingclub.
Prediction: 2-3-4-1
