RACE 2 GP The FL Sire Stakes – Unbridled
$150.000 3yo Foaled in FL 7f Dirt
Lightly raced and was claimed back in June for $30.000. Fourth at MTH on a soggy grass course and now goes to the main track v. state-bred types. The distance seems better for him and this should be a bit softer than he faced last out. Still, I think he’s up against it here and a minor share would probably be welcomed.
That’s three in a row since “The King” picked him up privately out of that up-the-track effort in the TAM Derby (GII). Two of those wins came here v. state-breds but that win at DMR last out certainly makes you think this horse has some ability. I think you have to give him a big look here today.
Was holding his own out on the TC Trail, but when you are in this barn, that’s not good enough. He skipped the big races after a third in the Withers (GIII) and Gotham (GIII), and was a close-up fourth in the Wood (GI). Since then, it’s not been a pretty picture, but he certainly has some class and I think this is a spot where he gets things back on-track.
Has been away from the races since winning his ’15 debut at TAM where he took down Alw types. He was second in the 2yo version of this same race last year, so you have seen him hang with FL-bred stakes races both in that race and at CRC, where again he was second. He could be the upset special here.
