KD Ladies Sprint (Grade 3)- $500.000 Purse
KD- For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward
Six and a Half Furlongs on the Turf
September 12, 2020
The rains came at KD, and for the KD Ladies Sprint, this led to two scratches, including our pick for the race, Slightly Flawed. Mb Stables still had another strong filly going to post, in last year’s winner, Four Left Feet. She was fine to run on the yielding turf surface, and would once again earn the win in this race. Whether firm or yielding, and with two left feet or four, she has shown that she loves this race track. Her repeat allows trainer Mb Stables to do the same, and they represent his two total wins in the race. Four Left Feet did it with a different jockey this time, as J Bisono was in the saddle. He is a first time winner. Congratulations to them! The time of the win on the yielding surface was 1:16.58. Let’s take a look!
(¼ Mile- :23.16)- Call Sarah, out of First Street Stables, rings out to the early lead, and the message to her was clearly to run well from the start. After an initial battle with D J C Racing Stables’ Diva Delite, Call Sarah opens up a lead of nearly three full lengths after a quarter mile. Diva Delite, after her outside push, is restrained from battling hard from the lead, but remains second. She is now the outside of three horses, with Hollywood Greek (Chili King Stables) closest to her, and Crystal Secret (Mb Stables) running on the rail. Chai Mission (Maxmillion Farm) is right behind this group, and it is a half length more to Trippi Sprinkle (Gdp Inc). Going further back in the field, running side by side, six lengths from the front are Copper Return (Estero Farms) and Dodge Challenger (John Henry). Our eventual race winner, the Mb Stables trained Four Left Feet is ninth early on, and seven lengths from the front. She was ninth after a quarter mile when she won this race last year as well, so she was likely right where J Bisono wanted her to be. The trailer would be Sierra Madre (Arindel).
(Top Of Stretch, 2F To Go; ½ Mile- :46.50)- There was no let up with Call Sarah, as she continued to run very well at the front, and handled the turn in a smooth manner. At the top of the stretch, her lead was still an approximate three lengths, so you had to think she was looking good here unless she completely packed it in. Diva Delite, Hollywood Greek, and Crystal Secret continued to run three wide, but none of them were taking charge and looking to make a move on the lead. Chai Mission, who had been behind them, was looking to do so however, and prepared to make a four wide move in the stretch. Trippi Sprinkle was having a steady run on the rail, and had a clear lane in front of her, for now, if she had a run coming. Meanwhile, Four Left Feet was still near the back, trailing by six and a half lengths, but still had three lengths to make up on horses like Chai Mission, who also seemed to be advancing. Safe to say, right now, it was going to take a huge effort for the reigning race champion to defend her title.
(Finish- 1:16.58)- Not too long after hitting the stretch, J Bisono urged Four Left Feet to get moving, and his filly responded with authority. You could visually see her get that jolt of energy, something that did not seem to come from the rest of the field, and she looked to make her move through the field. She had no problem making quick work of horses like Copper Return and Dodge Challenger, and took advantage of a lane that opened up between Diva Delite and Chai Mission. With a furlong to go, she had more than cut her lead in half. Meanwhile, Call Sarah began to tire late in the stretch, making the task of Four Left Feet even more feasible. In the end, she would win with room to spare, doing so by a length over Trippi Sprinkle, a filly that probably should have begun her move in the stretch earlier then she did, but still gets a good second. Chai Mission is third, and Call Sarah still manages the fourth place part of the purse. Crystal Secret, Hollywood Greek, and Diva Delite fittingly finish together, since they seemed more interested in running with one another for six and a half furlongs then winning this race. Dodge Challenger, Copper Return, and Sierra Madre round it out.
About The Winner- Four Left Feet, trained by Mb Stables, and ridden to victory by J Bisono, is a four year filly by No Doubt About It, and is out of T S Razor. She was bred in California by Mb Stables as a first quarter two year old and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her ninth in 18 starts, her fifth stake win and third graded win. Her career earnings are now $1,028.420.
