Fractious took his hot hand out to DMR and scored both the win and runner-up positions in Sunday’s DMR Debutante (GI) as Moment To Dream nosed out stable-mate Lemrun, both at double-digit odds.  Paris Pinnacle Party closed down to take the third spot, a half length back of the winner, with Folded Wings in fourth.  The final running time was 1:21⁴ for the seven furlongs.      

The field of eight loaded into the gate, the flag was up, and away in the DMR Debutante with Grandest Lady on the early lead, Hokitika Gorge along side applying the early pressure, then a wall of four that included Moment To Dream from the inside, Pris Pinnacle Party and Folded Wins from the outside, Rig For Red on the inside of that pair, then a gap to Lemrun and Lailoni was the early trailer. 

Down the backside and now nearing the far turn with three and a half furlongs to run, Grandest Lady continuing to show the way by three quarters of a length, Hokitika Gorge still applying the pressure.  A gap of two back to Rig For Red between horses, Moment To Dream from the rail, Folded Wings three wide, then a length to Paris Pinnacle Party, widest of all, Lemrun to her inside and a long gap back to the trailer, Lailoni.

Swing around the far turn to the top of the lane and we were all but seven wide, turning for home…  Grandest Lady on the rail, Moment To Dream next to her, Folded Wings and Paris Pinnacle Party from the outside, just in behind that foursome was Hokitika Gorge, Rig For Red next to that one and Lemrun on the outside then a gap back to Lailoni, but even she was in striking distance… it was anyone’s race to win. 

Now at the sixteenth’s pole, we had a four horse battle with Moment To dream in front by a head, Lemrun from between horses now looming, Paris Panicle Party on the outside, Folded Wings towards her inside, the rest were giving chase but the run to the wire was on… and as they hit the wire, it was a blur of horseflesh and silks, as the PHOTO sign went up on the infield tote-board.  After viewing the photograph, it was a nail-biter, but either way, it was all about Fractious as Moment To Dream won by the narrowest of margins, with stable-mate Lemrun second, then a quarter length to Paris Pinnacle Party by a head over Folded Wings for the third and fourth positions.  Lailoni and Rig For Red ended up on even terms in fifth, Grandest Lady seventh and Hokitika Gorge rounded this one out.  

Moment To Dream is a 2yo bay filly by Dream Cruise – Moments Up, by Zigmund, and she was bred in Cal by La Canada Racehorses.  She was acquired by Fractious via private purchase for $500.000 back in July.  This was her second win from five starts and she now shows earnings of $258.600.  Congrats to the connections!

Moment To Dream raced in the second flight to mid-way on the turn, inched forward 2p, battled through the lane, prevailed.  Lemrun sat well of of the pace, fanned six wide for the drive, dueled lane, lost in a head-bob.  Paris Pinnacle Party just behind the pace early, lost ground while wide backside, circled horses on the turn, hooked leaders widest lane, game.  Folded Wings just behind pace to the lane, swung 5p for the drive, out-kicked late.  Lailoni trailed to the top of the lane, some late action.  Rig For Red tracked pace, 5p into the lane, nothing left for the drive.  Grandest Lady set the pace to the furlong marker, tired.  Hokitika Gorge pressed the pace to the top of the lane, folded.
