5 DED Lafitte
$100.000 2yoF 1m Dirt 120lbs +penalties
The tote-board got lit up in this one as the favorites were off of the board and that keyed big exacta and trifecta pay-offs… in the end, Proud Fury, owned by Fractious, nosed out Paradise Stables’ Coquitlam Warrior to take the Lafitte at DED, coving the flat mile distance in 1:35.95. It was a quarter length back to Worthington Springs in third, who was a head better than post-time favorite Canterbury in fourth. Only four lengths covered the field of two-year-olds.
Proud Fury is a 2yo bay gelded son of Fire N Fury – Step Proud, by Proud Chai, and he was bred by Tiratzo in ON. Acquired by Fractious for $170.000 prior to starting his racing career, the big bay now has a pair of wins from six lifetime starts, this being his first stakes win, and he shows lifetime earnings of $102.640. Congrats to the connections!

Proud Fury unhurried mid-pack saving ground, move to 3p into the far turn, 4p for the drive, up in the final strides. Coquitlam Warrior saved ground mid-pack to the far turn, began to move forward through the turn, short lead deep stretch, nailed on the wire. Worthington Springs rated well back 3p to the far turn, fanned 5p through the lane, good effort. Canterbury sharp break, dueled to mid-way down the backside, clear to the sixteenth, tired. Jump The Line trialed early, wide first turn, continued 4p backside, fanned widest for the drive, evenly. Imtellingtime away well to press the pace to the backside, continued to track the pace to the final sixteenth, tired. Neds Influence was not a factor. Son Of A Flirt outrun. Knock Lake Boots just behind the pace to the far turn, tired.
