13 PIM The Lang Stakes (GIII)
$200.000 3yo 6f Dirt 122lbs
Did you know ol Chick was once Bill Hartack’s agent? Well, now you do! I can’t even imagine those two salty dogs chattin’. Sophomore sprinters will be doing battle in The Lang Stakes (GIII), a six-furlong dash on the main track. So, which way do we go in this one? Looks like The Green Card and I agree on the top selection as we both put Last Round on top. With three entrants, Fractious is obviously trying to knock this one down, and I think he’s the best of the trio. He won the Hutcheson and was second in the Swale, so throw out that two turn flop and look for a bounce-back today. We differ on the second choice as The Card goes with Licit, that one fresh off of a NY-bred stakes win at AQU. I’m going with the underdog and will give Southern Boy a nod, hoping that Oak Tree Stable can perhaps land their first graded win. It’s a big day here at Ol’ Hilltop… let’s hope the toilets flush.
