2 WO Frost King Stakes
$100.000 2yo ON-bred 6 1/2f Dirt 120lbs +penalties
ON-bred two year olds will be the menu this Sunday afternoon as the Hope Stakes has enticed a small field of five to the WO main track. This six and a half furlong race appears to be a one horse affair in my eye, as Whatd You Say seems the one to beat. He just missed vs. similar before that fifth place finish over this track in open company. But with a couple of maidens, etc., I think this is his race to lose. I’ll jump on Seattle Anakena in the second spot as he is another that has shown some real good efforts and although I don’t think he can press the top choice, he’s seems the best of the rest. I’ll go with a heavy straight exacta and hope to go to the window half way down the lane.
Here’s The Field –

Caleb Toothpaste | Night Rider Stables | Bahen S R | 120 | 20/1 |
Beat one horse in his debut so he’s going to need to improve quite a big to be competitive in this group. He did flash some speed in that race, but this is asking a lot at this point in his career.

Hint Of Sugar | Arindel | Stein J | 120 | 8/1 |
Still a maiden, but he’s been second in all three starts, including a nose-beat at KEE in his most recent. Two nice am preps getting ready for this including a bullet work a couple of days ago. He may be worth a serious look.

Seattle Anakena | Estero Farms | Hernandez R M | 120 | 4/1 |
Broke maiden at LS in his second start and was third at SAR vs. Alw horses before that last out fifth i the Smoke Glacken at MTH. He was making up some ground late in that one, so maybe the extra furlong is something he wants, although he tired going the distance in that Alw race.

Bloodbank | Team 7 Illusions | Wilson E J | 120 | 6/1 |
Broke maiden at MNR in his first effort and opened up a huge lead at to the top of the lane only to hold on by a neck. This is obviously a big step up in class, but maybe he shakes clear again?

Whatd You Say | Mb Stables | Ryan S | 120 | 1/1 |
He will get my $2 today… he was fifth in his last race over this track vs. stakes company, but traffic may have been the culprit in that one. He just missed vs. state-bred types over this surface prior to that, and anything close to those two efforts should get his picture taken today.
