Maxmillion Farm went for it in the KD Ladies Sprint, entering three for the race. The preferred runner of his by the betting public was Frozen Mist, who needed to improve off her fourth place effort in the KD Preview Ladies Sprint at ELP, and she would do exactly that! This filly was recently acquired by him three months ago for $100.000 in private sales, and he has made her a star already! This is the second win in the KD Ladies Sprint for Maxmillion Farm, who also won in 2022 with Hollywood Babe. Mar Garcia is the winning rider, and it is his first such win. Congratulations to them! The time of the race win was 1:14.13, the second quickest in the race’s history. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :22.69)- Three horses try for the early the lead, and holding a slight advantage among them is the one in the middle, Stellar Strength, for Mb Stables. Stablemate Tunted also breaks well to his inside, and running three wide is Mo Mentum’s Farm Oregon, who drew in off the also eligibles with the scratch of Shine To Class. There are three directly behind them, and our eventual winner from Maxmillion Farm, Frozen Mist, is one of them, riding the rail early on. TwinTowersRacing’s Groovy and Asgar’s Silent Runner run right there with her. Sister Nancy is within a length to their outside for D J C Racing Stables, and running five wide is Aliens (Team 7 Illusions). All of them are within three lengths of the leader. Right As Rain (Alydar Stables) is next, with Emily (Nakamura Stables) and Decimas Queen (Maxmillion Farm) nearby. Behind them are Lucky Star (Maxmillion Farm) and Menacing Shadow (La Canada Racehorses), with Spectator (Asgar) at the back.

(½ Mile- :45.47, Top of Stretch- 2F To Go)- Stellar Strength shows the way around the turn, and Oregon is able to keep up with her. That cannot be said for Tunted, who drops back midway into the turn. That would have been directly into the lap of Frozen Mist, but Mar Garcia was able to move her off of the rail to keep from running into the one. Now, Frozen Mist would be able to take advantage of a lane right between the two frontrunners within the stretch. Groovy and Silent Runner were keeping pace with her, and on the far outside, Aliens was beginning to make a move. Sister Nancy dropped back, as Right As Rain ran evenly. Emily was next on the rail, but did not show much yet, and didn’t really have a lot of room to work with to begin with. The remaining runners ran four wide a length behind them.

(Finish- 1:14.13)- Stellar Strength looked like she might have the strength to hang, and while she did her best, Frozen Mist would be too much for her. Gaining with every stride, Frozen Mist didn’t make an authoritative pass for the win, but it was more a workmanlike, consistent run to the finish that saw her grab the victory by a neck over Stellar Strength. It was a length to the third place Aliens, and about that much to Oregon, who held off Emily for the fourth place cut, which is no small prize with this purse. Spectator is next, then a dead between Groovy and Right As Rain. Rounding it out are Menacing Shadow, Silent Runner, Lucky Star, Sister Nancy, Decimas Queen, and Tunted.

About The Winner- Frozen Mist, trained by Maxmillion Farm and ridden by Mar Garcia, is a four year old filly by Thoughtful Idea and is out of Ice Angel. She was bred in New York by Wood Duck Stables as a first quarter two year old, and was acquired by Maxmillion Farm this May in private sales for $100.000. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her sixth in 13 starts, and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $1,469.690.
