Full Field for The Hurricane Bertie

6  GP     The Hurricane Bertie (GIII)

We get a nice group of fillies and mares set to sprint six and a half furlongs over the Hallandale main track and we look at the entrants for The Hurricane Bertie (GIII).  A few of these come out of the Inside Information (GIII) that was run here in Jan and my top choice is one of them.  First Impression was fourth in that one, but she certainly look like a horse that can get the job here today.  I think she will rise to the occasion and take this.  Another that deserves a big look is Roo… fresh off of that runner-up graded stakes effort at SA last out.  Another like either of her last two should make her a tough cookie.  Let’s go down to the rail for the third choice and put Tommy Frazier in the mix.  She was seventh over this track last out but I think that was a bounce and she comes back tough today.  It’s a wide open race, so good luck to everyone.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Tommy Frazier    John Henry    Lanerie C J   124   4/1

Won the Sugar Swirl to close out her 20 season and was seventh in her her 21 debut over this track vs. stakes foes.  When she is right, she can beat just about anyone but she has stretches of less than perfect outings.  What do we get today?

2
Unprecedented    South Beach Racing    Juarez N   124   7/1

Four wins last season and steps back up to graded foes off of a group of nice Alw races.  She has struggled vs. graded horses so she’s going to need her best if she wants to be in the picture here.

3
   Christina G    Mb Stables    Lopez P   124   6/1

Six wins last year so there’s no doubt that she knows how to get the job done.  Had a rough time of it on BC Day finishing tenth and was sixth in the La Brea (GI) so she needs to get back after it in short order.

4
Spy On Hollywood    Estero Farms    Kimura K   124   8/1

Had a trio of wins last season and closed well to be fourth over this track last out in a race that a few of these come out of.  I think the shorter distance will not be helpful to her… but I’ve been wrong before.

5
Wbf No Regrets    TwinTowersRacing    Bravo J   124   7/1

Another from the Inside Information (GII) where she just didn’t seem to run a lick.  She won back to back graded races back last spring and it’s been tough since.  She was fourth on BC Day, but she needs to show more than last out effort.

6
Truly Deeply Madly    Jive Inc.    Castellano J J   124   3/1

Certainly ran an eye-opener last out, taking down NM-bred stakes horses by six lengths and did it in quick time.  She won three races last year so she certainly no stranger to the winner’s circle, and when you add in that she was fourth on BC Day, well… she can run.

7
First Impression    Mb Stables    Saez L   124   7/2

The down side is she hasn’t won since June, but she’s been very close a few times and was third on BC Day.  She was fourth in the Inside Information (GII) where she ran a very even race.  This is a spot where I think she will get back after it and use her speed to control things… I like her in this race.

8
City Of Soul    John Henry    Leparoux J R   124   8/1

Four wins last year, and closed out the 20 season with a win and kicked off 21 with another to make it back-to-back after that tiring eighth at KEE.  Her best makes her a horse worth watching and she could be a fair price… can she upset?

9
   Z Is For Zero    First Street Stables    Ortiz J L   124   7/1

Three consecutive races where she just didn’t do a whole lot.  Now those races were against the best of the best, but she’s in with a tough lot here.  If she can run back to her best, she will be right in the middle of things… if not, it could be a another long day.

10
Leave It To Me    Fractious    Albarado R J   124   4/1

Back-to-back wins to close out 20 and kick-off 21 makes her an interesting play here today.  While she doesn’t quite have the recent graded success of some of these, she was seventh at KEE in that Prioress (GII), she is sharp of late and has to be considered in the top horses.

11
Roo    Our Athletes    Ortiz I Jr   124   9/2

Third in the La Brea (GI) to close out 20 and just missed after having the lead in deep stretch at SA in the Santa Monica (GII) so she looks ready to have a break out race.  She won four starts last year and only missed the board one time… give her a look.

12
   Crush Szyra    High Voltage    Bracho J A   124   8/1

A single win last year and that came way back in Jan, so she needs to turn things around.  She has been close in a number of graded races but needs to find a little bit more if she want to be involved late today.

13
Five Star Queen    Angelos Stable   No Rider   124   AE

Would be an interesting play is she draws in off of the AE list.  Four wins in a row and five of her last six… it’s a step up but she looks real sharp and could certainly mix things up with these.
