10 TAM The Davis Stakes (GIII) [KYD]
$250.000 11/16th Mile Dirt 3yo 120lbs
Down to TAM and one of my fav races, The Davis Stakes (GIII), a mile and a sixteenth test for the sophomore TC hopefuls, and we have a full gate, plus one, set for this one. Is it just my opinion or are long-shots winning the majority of these prep races? I don’t see a clear favorite so it does in fact seem like a place where a punter can make a few bucks, if you can figure out the puzzle. I’m taking a horse that has only been LA-bred races, but No Real Drama looks like a horse that is sitting on a big race and a win. He uses tactical speed to be part of every race, but has been tiring a bit in the late stages, when the money is on the line… can he change that pattern here? I think so, and he’s my top pick. Law Dog is another that looks to be ready to run a big one. He was second in the Display Stakes at WO, and the Mucho Macho Man at GP, last out. He has a versatile style and it will be interesting to see how they go after things today. It’s never smart to leave the Big Barn off of the ticket, and Mb has a three-headed monster set to go… I’ll give Conscientious the edge from his stable mates and the light raced cold may be the ticket to victory.
Again, it’s a wide open affair, so let’s grab a cold snack and find a good place to watch this one.
