Prominent throughout, Strawberry was able to get the jump on her competition and grabbed the first G1 of her career in the 19th edition of the G1 Derby City Distaff.  Completing the 7-furlongs on the CD main track in 1:21.69, Strawberry garnered the 8th win in her 28-race career and has now earned $838.820.

Strawberry got away from the gate in good order and settled in the two-path in the 2nd flight about two-lengths off of the early pace set by Baptisted By Fire.  The eventual winner raced between Twist Zero and Foregone Conclusion as Baptisted By Fire completed an opening quarter in :23.02.

Strawberry inched closer as they neared the turn and moved out another path to get clear run on the leader.  After Baptisted By Fire completed the opening half-mile in :46.07 she was quickly passed by Stawberry, and it would be the Mb Stables filly who led the field into the stretch.  After three-quarters went in 1:09.40, Strawberry was a length clear and looked like she might air; however, a new precinct was about to be heard from as Starting Over loomed boldly out in the middle of the track.

Staring Over gradually erased her deficit, but Strawberry reached the wire a neck in front of her rival.  Twist Zero was a half-length behind the latter as she earned the show by virtue of a head bob that went against Baptisted By Fire.  Completing the order of finish were Slckmoment Laga, Smiling Lucy, Dialing, and Foregone Conclusion.
