2 AQU The Winkfield
$100.000 3YO 6f Dirt 122lbs +penalties
We go to AQU to catch a nice group of sophomores set to sprint six panels in The Winkfield. All things equal, I’d probably jump on Noble Faerie, but with that kind of weight AND the outside post… I gotta look elsewhere. So, I’ve landed on Lets Race as the top choice today. He just missed last out in his first trip vs. stakes types, so I think he just keeps gettin’ better and gets it done today. Let’s go right next door and take World Of Outlaws in the second spot. He broke maiden last out, but I think the Big Barn knows what they have in this one, and I’m looking for a big, big race.
Here’s The Field –
Was rolling along, right in the middle of things, then ran last of eleven in the LA Futurity (GII) and only beat one in the Pasco at TAM in his most recent. His best would put him in the middle of things, but the last two makes you move down the page and look at some others.
Another that had some nice races early on, especially that third in the Sappling at MTH, but his last three have left a lot to be desired. He beat on in the Champaign (GI) which was a wet tack but a seventh vs. Alw company and a tiring eighth in the Jerome, so I think we need to move on.
He’s been tough in just about every start, and although you could have claimed him early on, a runner-up effort in the Sugar Bowl shows that he certainly has ability at this level. You always have to fear Mb, so give this one a big big look when you head to the window.
Another that has been running big and he did get the tag slapped on him out of the Mb monster factory. Came back to be third in the PARX Juv, so this is a spot where he should be able to make some noise. He’s another that deserves to be on those tickets.
Broke maiden and won an Alw race at FL before a fifth in the Hope Stakes (GIII), but the vet stopped by to change his outlook on things and it seemed to work as he went wire to wire at FG vs. Alw types. Three wins in six starts, yeah, he can run a little bit.
Only two starts and broke maiden at CT in that second trip to the starting gate. He was sold privately after that maiden victory, so the new owners go for the gusto and raise him up in class. Obviously, they like what they see, so maybe he turns some heads today.
Two wins from three starts and they jumped in the claim box to pull this one out, as he won at KEE for $50.000 claimer. He’s been rested since that win, but they bring him back with some intentions, going right into stakes company. Plenty to like about this one, and he may come with some odds.
The Big Barn brings another to the gate and this one is only making his fourth lifetime start. Got the job done at AQU last out, winning a NY-bred MSW in good fashion. Obviously, they know what they have, so give this one a big look… he’s on my ticket.
tough and got snipped and then ran a big race to be second in the Mucho Macho Man and closed a late gap to run a big race in that one. I like him, A LOT, here today and I think he has a big career in front of him. Look the other way, because I want some odds.
Broke maiden at CT then came back to run poorly in the Smarty Jones at OP in his most recent. Some horses just do not like that surface, so you may want to draw a line in that race and get back on him here. He could be tough and could have some odds to make him a worthwhile wager.
Only two starts from this one, running second at first asking, up at FL, then won nicely at GG breaking maiden in fine fashion. He shows a nice work over the track and looks like he was pointed for this spot… he could be trouble.
Five wins and two seconds, took the Hope Stakes (GIII)… there’s not much bad to say, but for. 128 pounds is a LOT to ask af any horse, but a 3yo, going 6f from the twelve hole… He’s going to have to do it without me on his back… and that’s probably a good thing.
