Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares
A field of six filly and mare turf sprinters has been entered up to take on this years running of the Giants Causeway over the Keeneland turf course. Not a big field so let’s take a look at the field.
1. Argumentative (8-4-1-0 $121.470), trained by La Canada Racehorses
First up here is a three year old in the field and she is a stakes winner in her short career. Her last three have been in high dollar claiming races at Gulfstream so maybe she isn’t as good as a three year old. Wouldn’t surprise me if she won or was last.
2. One Step West (5-2-1-0 $47.680), trained by Maxmillion Farm
Next in the field is a filly who is also a three year old and she will be making her first start for Maxmillion Farm. The turf works showing are pretty good but she is an unknown in here with never running on the surface.
3. Pure Motor (12-5-2-1 $73.560), trained by Triple K
A claimer taking her shot in this stake as she been running at the ten dollar claiming level and she was beaten in a starter allowance in her last race. Unless she can run her eyes out I do not see her standing a chance.
4. Malagan Girl (10-3-5-0 $159.800), trained by Spankys Barn
Another one trying the turf for the first time here but she has some class to her as she did win a stakes race in her last start. The only turf works I can see are not terrible but off of works I think she may be better on the dirt. She is unknown on the surface.
5. Twisted Minds (1-1-0-0 $7.200), trained by Mb Stables
A runaway winner in her only start to date by four lengths at Turf Paradise but she has not been since that December race. The works are strong and she has the top trainer in her corner so I got to think she stands a big chance in here.
6. Gemischt Van Strauss (11-2-2-3 $176.340), trained by Drabfantasy
The clear choice I think for this race here as she has at least won a graded stakes race sprinting on the turf and that was three races ago. She is a common runner at this level and she should be pretty tough to beat if she bring her best effort.
Summary
A lot of unknowns about the runners in here with a few trying the turf for the first time and with a few jumping in class also. My top choice goes to the outside runner Gemischt Van Strauss. Good luck to all in the field.
