Last December, Gigafemme picked up a huge win when she captured the $500.000 Fifth Avenue, for NY-breds, at AQU, but she has been quiet thus far as a three year old. Despite being winless in her five starts coming in, she had looked good last month in a SAR allowance to create some optimism about how she may fare at CT. No one would beat her over the seven furlongs on Friday, as she came from near the back to score the new biggest win of her career. Gigafemme is trained by Big Guns Stables and had M E Smith aboard. It’s the first win in the race for the trainer, and the second for the jockey. Congratulations to them! The winning race time was 1:21.60, the third fastest in the race’s history. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :22.64)- Unique Beauty goes out to the lead for TwinTowersRacing, and leads by a length as they work around the opening turn. Dupixent, while running three wide for Night Rider Stables, is in the second spot, narrowly ahead of Xcel Racing’s Atomic Fury and Nakamura Stables’ Shes A Looker. Shericka runs in the middle of the field for Winning Link Stables, and will take the fourth lane into the turn. Next comes the eventual winner of the race, Gigafemme, and the Big Guns Stables filly is four lengths from the front. Thousand Hours (Mb Stables) keeps her company to her outside, and behind them we have Eilonwy (Keikowin Racing). The trailer is Valkyria (Alydar Stables).

(½ Mile- :46.05)- Midway into the backstretch, Unique Beauty still holds the top spot, and has Dupixent to her outside, within a length. Behind them, Atomic Fury, Shes A Looker, and Shericka will all stalk the front runners, as Gigafemme runs in sixth, trying to stay close to the rail. Thousand Hours still runs with that one, with Eilonwy and Valkyria still at the back.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.0F To Go)- Dupixent powers to the lead in the turn, and quickly leaves Unique Beauty behind. The fade of that one would mean that others had take evasive action to keep from running into her, and this would include Gigafemme, who had to come off the rail as she began to close in on those in front of her. Shes A Looker and Shericka were caught wide on exit of the turn, but still hanging in there, something that Atomic Fury was not able to do. Thousand Hours looked to make an advance on the far outside, while Eilonwy looks to do similar while closer to the rail. Valkyria still trailed.

(Finish- 1:21.60)- At the top of the stretch, Dupixent held the lead, but Gigafemme was not about to lose this evening, as she was full of run. Quickly moving into the second spot, she could now set her sights on Dupixent, and with half a furlong to go, she was already within half a length. It was inevitable at that point, as she goes on to win impressively by a length! Dupixent holds off a late bid by Shericka to remain second, and finishing in a dead heat for fourth are Eilonwy and Shes A Looker. Rounding it out are Thousand Hours, Valkyria, Atomic Fury, and Unique Beauty.

About The Winner- Gigafemme, trained by Big Guns Stables and ridden to victory by M E Smith, is a three year old filly by Hashrate, and is out of Valentina. She was bred in Bug Guns Stables in New York as a yearling, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in twelve starts and second stake win.
