Ginger Haggis Sips on Champagne as He Heads for the BC

The Champagne – Grade I (P10) [BC] [KYD]
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $500.000 Open 2 Year Olds.

1st Ginger Haggis, trained by The Sidley Stud
The Hopeful winner made it two grade ones in a row with a very smooth success winning in the end by a fairly comfortable length. There was a fear early on as he was taken back in the field that he may run into traffic but that never really materialised and he made the inside draw work perfectly. With his last two wins being in grade ones and on different going it must stand him in very good stead for the BC and it would take a brave man to bet against him.

2nd Jolly Be Native, trained by Gdp Inc
The similarities between this race and the Hopeful were further demonstrated as this gelding ran an almost identical race and finished second to the same horse beaten the same distance. I a game where consistent results are almost never seen this was an extra ordinary result especially given the easy surface.

3rd Industry Connection, trained by Mb Stables
Stayed on nicely from a tough draw he ran a nice trial for the BC if he gets a run. Mb Stables sold the colt to his friend Heavens Own after the race suggesting this wont be the best horse Mb will have looking for a BC Juvenile crown.

4th Made To Sin, trained by Downwind Stables
May have been inconvenienced by the going as he failed to quicken from a good enough position. In the end he stayed on for fourth but a better track in the BC may improve his chances of getting on terms.

SUMMARY
This was a pretty hot race and the ground wasnt testing enough to throw the form book out of the window. The winner looks a good bet for the BC.
