Go Wide or Inside, ET Mint Julep Handicap Could Go Anywhere

ET Mint Julep Handicap – Grade III
CD Race #6 1 1/16m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $125.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1       Certain Vessel            TwinTowersRacing     Saez G     118

This one has a bit of an inconsistent record with some nice efforts in this grade and others that leave a bit to be desired. The big plus here is that she gets bottom weight and the ace draw and is from a stable that can turn up with one and get a win from the left field. I like her works and if she can produce the effort that saw her fifth in The Fox then she could well be a good each way bet.

2          Dream Pharaoh       Threshold      Garcia Mar         119

She has always struggled a little to make it at this level but is good enough at overnight level to be given another chance. Second in a couple of ungraded stakes she normally leaves it all a bit late but showed some improvement when ridden from the front last time.

3          Admire Beauty         Arindel          Court J K            121

Gets the top weight but it is only 3Lbs higher than the bottom weight so shouldn’t be a big factor. She looked to be going places at the start of the year with a good win in the Suwanee River but didn’t fire in her next two leaving a bit of a question mark around her. Her works suggest she is still in that early form so she could bounce back today in this easier race.

4        Five Star Pride         Our Athletes     Beschizza A       118

A fast filly she has been doing very well at sprint trips and sneaks under the handicappers radar here with joint bottom weight. If the trainer can conserve some of that speed to be used later in the race she certainly has the ability to win this.

5        Bagina          Chili King Stables     Leparoux J R         120

I think this Bagina prefers to be wet and showed that when winning the Hillsborough earlier in the year. Consistency on a dry track has been her problem though but she gets back to a decent draw today so maybe a surprise package, especially if she see’s some moisture.

6       Call Sarah         First Street Stables        Bejarano R      120

A real solid miler she probably deserves more weight than this going on her very good efforts to date. Her last six have all been in graded level and each time she has gone home with a pay check including a game win in the Autumn Miss at the end of last year. A winning chance.

7        High Ended       John Henry        Bridgmohan S X        119

A grade two winner she failed to step up on that early promise but has been running well enough in good grade since. She certainly has the exposed form to go well here but she needs to be back at somewhere near her best to win it.

8        Concordia         Nakamura Stables       Talamo J        119

Another that has shown promise but not as yet has she lived up to it. Second in the Endeavor BC at the start of the year over this trip puts her right in this and the stable has her spot on looking at her works. A winning chance if the draw doesn’t beat her.

9        Kyanite        Smokey Stover       Gaffalione T     119

Six wins from ten and from the big Smokey barn she must be considered despite a horrible draw. A game winner of the Lilly Stakes over this trip she then ran poorly in the Fox before an impressive win in a PRX optional claimer, Her works say go with her but she still has a little to prove to be a confident pick.

SUMMARY

A tough race to call, you could go anywhere and consider yourself to be in with a chance so i will go with the outside two to fight out one of the scenario’s that may play out.
