Gorogue Laga (Arindel) proved himself something special in winning the DMR Futurity by two lengths and extending his winning streak to three. He made it look easy, coming away from the gate fast, stalking the pace until halfway through the race when he took command and pulled away by two lengths.
Zipper (Mb Stables) came away with the early lead and quickly put two lengths between himself and Gorogue Laga and Lambeau (Bigchief Stables). Wilson (Hawaiian Shirt Guy) ran fourth between the two with Uncertainty (Mb Stables) and Forceamalu (Arindel) a length and a half behind him. Lumineer (Aarons Hosses) was next four wide with Shoo Fly (Lazy Eye) hugging the rail. Behind him two lengths back Endlessly Summer (Barcelona Farms) and At Any Price (Asgar) ran just ahead of Loko Moko (South Shore Stables) and Ducky Duck (Pan Farms).
Out of the chute and onto the main track, Zipper held the lead by two. Gorogue Laga moved into second on the rail with Lambeau and Wilson to his outside. Lumineer stalked them on the outside in fifth. Lumineer quickly moved up to challenge Gorogue Laga behind Zipper.
Gorogue Laga won the contest for second from Lumineer and set his sights on Zipper.
Around the turn, Gorogue Laga cut the lead to 1/2 length Forceaumalu switched to the outside for his run, passing horses quickly while Gorogue Laga on the front took the lead from Zipper.
Gorogue Laga pulled away by two with a sixteenth of a mile to run. Zipper, Lambeau and Forceamalu stretched across the track in third behind Wilson. Forceamalu gobbled up ground on the outside, but was no match for Gorogue Laga. The Arindel entrants hit the wire first and second with Wilson holding on for third.
It was the third win in only four starts for the ON-bred gelding by Rogue Lawyer out of Bella Laga (Speedballz) and brings his career earnings to $328.920. Congratulations to Arindel and Gorogue Laga!
