When the horses entered the starting gate the owners of each of these promising 2 year olds looked on with hopes of bigger and better things that can come after this race for these colts. If you look closely you may even see some Kentucky Derby dreams starting right now. As the gates opened the horses appeared to come out well but 1 furlong into the race, the outside horse Triple Senor took control of the race and was leading with Gotta Own The Light ¼ length off the pace with Gonna Get Girl in 3^rd. 2 furlongs into the race Triple Senor was still leading and Gotta Own The Light was still stuck to his side ¼ length behind. Admirals Sprit had pulled even with Gonna Get Girl 2 lenghts off the lead in 3^rd. With 2 furlongs to go Triple Senor appeared to have thrown in the towel and was passed by Gotta Own The Light for the lead and Admirals Spirit had moved into a clear 3^rd and appeared to be traveling well. With 1 furlong left to go Gotta Own The Light looked strong on the lead and Triple Senor continued his move backwards. Admirals Spirit was still in 3^rd but looked as if he was going to pass Triple Senor any moment. The only question was whether he could hold off a late charge from Akimbo who was in 4^th. The mad dash to the wire ended with Gotta Own The Light cursing in, with Admirials Sprit holding on for 2^nd and Akimbo just edging out Triple Senor for 3^rd.
