Two Year Olds NY Breds
Here is a very exciting state bred race for two year old New York breds. A lot of these horses are going to be heading on to Derby preps and graded stakes after this race. A very tough field and very exciting race so let’s take a look at the runners in here.
1. Smokin Luka (7-3-1-2 $726.200), trained by Mb Stables
First up in the field here and this is a very talented runner. He won the grade one Champagne two races back and was a close third in the Breeders Cup Juvenile in his last start. Cuts back to seven furlongs here but I do not think that will be an issue. Will need a good trip but he has a very good chance here.
2. Leas Chance (6-3-0-2 $153.700), trained by Mb Stables
Second for Mb Stables here and this horse is coming into this race off of multiple state bred stakes races. This is by far the toughest race this horse has faced and he is a talented runner I think but he is a little outmatched against most of these runners.
3. Swale (6-1-3-1 $85.400), trained by D J C Racing Stables
Next up is this horse right here and he is coming into this race off of a head defeat in the grade three Nashua. Before that he won his only win so far at the same seven furlong distance as this race. Has a chance but he will need to run a very big race to win here.
4.Dial It Chuck (7-2-1-1 $114.600), trained by Arindel
First horse in the field for Arindel and this horse is coming into this race off of a second in the Sleepy Hollow which is a state bred stake. Not a bad horse here but not sure how he will have a huge chance to win but I think he can hit the board at least.
5. Oleg (1-0-0-0 $0.000), trained by Arindel
Second of the two for Arindel and this is kind of a shock entry to say the least for this race. One start and not on the board for this runner but he has been working up a storm. But the works do not translate to how he will run so I cannot give him much of a chance here.
6. Jinxed Authority (6-2-1-0 $201.800), trained by Smokey Stover
Next up in the field her and this horse is a graded stakes winner. He won the Saratoga Special and was second in the Hopeful. Out of the top three in the Champagne and Breeders Cup Juvenile in his last two I think he will appreciate the seven furlongs. Big shot for this horse I think.
7. Sweet Creep (3-0-1-0 $9.400), trained by John Henry
Another surprising entry in this field as this horse is also a maiden. He was second in his last start but that was only at Calder. I just do not really see this horse having much of a chance here and he is in a little too tough with these.
8. Breath Of The Wild (5-3-1-1 $182.860), trained by Smokey Stover
Second in the field here for Smokey Stover and this horse is coming into this race off of a win the Sleepy Hollow over a month ago. Never out of the top three in all starts but I think this race is the toughest race yet for him. He will have a very tough time here but he would not surprise as a winner.
9. Furious (7-2-1-1 $717.200), trained by Mb Stables
Third and final entry for Mb Stables in here and this horse is a very interesting horse in this field. He won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf in his last out and now he is switching to the dirt here. Obviously a very good horse but not sure he will love the dirt in here.
10. Toothpaste (2-0-1-0 $2.620), trained by Night Rider Stables
Once again a maiden in this race and this horse definitely does not stand a chance in my opinion. He was beat at Marquis Downs in cheap maiden claimer and in a starter allowance at Hawthorne. No shot for this horse in my opinion.
11. Absolution (4-1-0-0 $27.000), trained by La Canada Racehorses
Next to last runner in the field here and he is coming off of an off the board finish in a state bred stakes race about three weeks ago. He looks up against it with these but he could hit the bottom of the board if he runs a big race in here.
12. Bigmouth Raj (4-2-0-0 $36.260), trained by Night Rider Stables
Last runner in the field here and second in the race for Night Rider Stables and he is coming into this race off of a fourth in the Notebook. Before that he won a non two claiming race for forty bucks. Bad post and looks a little outmatched in here to me.
Summary
An obvious tough field and I think this race will be a very key stepping stone on to the Derby for next year. I think that Smokin Luka is the horse to beat in this race off of that third place finish in the Breeders Cup. Good luck to all in this race.
