The Card hands out the trifecta, all $11 worth, but with a 5-horse field, what can we expect? When they hit the wire in Sunday’s Santa Margarita (GII), Mo Mentum Farm’s Gutter Black was given the perfect ride, pressing the early pace, taking over mid-way down the back stretch, opening a clear lead into the lane, then holding off the late efforts of the post time favorite to take home the win. The final running time was 1:481 for the mile and an eighth, over the Fast SA main oval and the margin of victory was half-length. The 4yo black filly earned her sixth lifetime win from seventeen starts, and her second win of the ’25 season. She now has lifetime earnings of $411.180. Congrats to the Connections!
Devil In High Heels, the .85/1 post time favorite from The Sidley Stud outfit, rated well back to the lane and unleashed her normal late turn of foot, but came up a bit short on this afternoon, while taking the second spot by two lengths over Jinxed Artist, that one the stable mate of the winner. It was a photo for that spot with Jokerjoes’ Melting Shadows just missing and taking the minor cash. Eight lengths covered the field of five and there were no scratches.
