Hannah Goes from Zero to Heroine in The Roxelana

The Roxelana
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Hannah McKay Riggins Racing Torres J A

This remarkable four-year-old made the transition from $4.000 claimer to Stakes winner in six starts, winning five in the period of just four and a half months. Bred by the owner they will be thrilled that she escaped the claim at the end of last year as she has built into quite a formidable sprinter. Today she took a sit just off the speed and that probably was the winning of this race as she ran on strongly through the final furlong to gain a deserved win.

2nd Vanessa Royalty Stables Garcia Mar

In contrast to the winner, this filly hasn’t won a race for ten months but in that time has collected a paycheck in four stakes races. She was the bridesmaid again today but not by much as she came home strongly off a fast early pace to be beaten a half-length.

3rd So Blitz Asgar Geroux F

A deep closer for much of her career she again left her challenge too late but wasn’t far away at the end. The fast early pace certainly suited her but timing these late runs seems to be difficult for the AI more often than not and she once again finished fastest but too late.

4th The Great Escape Team 7 Illusions Corrales G

Another that came home late but the race was over by the time her jockey decided to give her full bore. Only her 6th career start so I am sure there is more to come.
