12 FG New Orleans Classic (GII)
$500.000 4yo&Up 1 1/8m Dirt 123lbs
When Fractious has Hiei on his toes, is there a better horse? I really don’t think so… the 4yo gets his first win of the year taking down a fine group of horses, most of which he faced last out in the PWC, but today in the New Orleans Classic (GII), it was a whole different story. Allowed to settle early, the gelding exploded late in the lane and drew off to win by two widening lengths, stopping the clock at 1:46.95 for the mile and an eighth over the Fast FG oval. Quiet Return set the pace, had the lead in the lane, but had no answer for the eventual winner when it counted, taking the second spot. Post time favorite Spankersville was third, then Twin Rackets taking the minor money.
