3 AQU The Comely (GIII)
$200.000 3yoF 1 1/8m Dirt 122lbs +penalties
D J C Racing Stables’ Hot Summer made a mockery of The Comely (GIII), going straight to the front and just running this field into the ground on Friday. The final margin was three lengths but looked like it could have been a football field if the gray had wanted to. The runner up, Bronx Belle, dismissed at 99/1 odds proved why the odds/payouts here at HRP are laughable as she returned 777.50 to place… sure, just like RL. Creepy Crawlies, the .70/1 post time favorite, was just a tick back in third with Sexy Angelina three quarters of a length back in fourth. The final running time was 1:50 flat over the AQU main track, listed as good.
Hot Summer is a 3yo gray filly by Que Niagra – Gigafactory, by Cherokee Sunset and she was bred by her owner, D J C Racing Stables, here in NY. This was her fourth win from seventeen starts and she shows lifetime earnings of $1,080.400. Congrats to the winning connections!

Hot Summer sent from the gate, crossing over to the rail prior to the clubhouse turn, continued to set the pace unchallenged, won as much the best. Bronx Belle rated back well off of the pace, moved up into the lane, closed 2p lane, no threat to the winner. Creepy Crawlies wide trip, nosed for the place. Sexy Angelina tracked the pace, tired. Hardliners Lady was no factor. Table For One trailed throughout.
