Hurts Takes a Familiar Road to The BC

Breeders Futurity – Grade I [BC] [KYD]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $650.000 Open 2 Year Olds.

1st Hurts Royalty Stables Velazquez J R

If we didn’t have a BC favorite before this race we probably have now as this homebred colt made it three graded stakes in a row with his usual stunning turn of foot. There are some easy comparisons to make between this and another stable star two-year-old of yesteryear and there won’t be many that won’t hope that this one can be just a bit more lucky than his now retired stable companion was as a three-year-old.
Today he was once again stunning in his finish, but you have to wonder as the two-year-olds sort themselves out and the opening quarters calm down a bit how he will adapt to a slower early pace. I hope for the trainer’s sake he can because he is just a stunning individual.

2nd The Hunter Hunterman Stable Geroux F

Another that took advantage of the swift opening quarter by going back and coming late, he never looked like catching the winner, but this was a great effort in his first run in graded company.

3rd Poetico Acber Farms Lezcano J

The winner of the TwinTowers Sponsored race just a few weeks ago, he got further back than the first two and finished like a train to be third. Plenty to like about this effort as once again the race engine dictated the pattern of this race.

4th Political Star Big Guns Stables Smith M E

The first home of those nearer the speed he was understandably tired after the race engine set this race up for closers.
