The Azeri – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Hydro, trained by Team 7 Illusions
The daughter of Charley Farley added a few more cents to her sires value with a second graded stakes win
of the year. Travelling comfortably but off the speed she picked up nicely when asked and won with a
little in hand by one length. She is clearly every bit as good as she was as a three year old and i would
suspect this wont be the last of her black type successes this year.
2nd Brawl Dead End, trained by Mb Stables
Went off as the odds on favourite and looked to have it in the bag as she staked the lead in a small field.
As they the whips came out however she could not match the winner down the stretch and she ended up a decent if not slightly dissapointing second. A very consistent sort i am pretty sure she will be back in this grade and winning before long.
3rd Ocala Express, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Started at very long odds for a filly of her class but after the wide gate push sped her to the front the writing
was on the wall. Maybe the odds maker takes into account the wide draw, maybe she just ran better than expected but what she did do is run well enough to place third after leading for much of the race.
4th Ancient Royalty, trained by Paradise Stable
Close enough throughout but just not good enough at the end, she hasnt quite got the pace for this sort of grade but gave an honest account of herself.
5th Sinissippi Delite
Went to the trail and stayed there in a dissapointing show. Her time as a race mare may be short if she doesnt pick u her form next time.
