The big race of the day here at Belmont was upon us, and the track was still listed as sloppy as the rain did not stop all day. The rain did not scare any of the 14 horses who were drawn into the field away and they all entered the starting gate, with dreams of the Breeders Cup Classic in their eyes. The betting public was firmly behind the reigning Breeders Cup Classic winner Niagra who was making his first career start on an off track, would he like the track being off? As the gates swung open all of the horses got away well for this 10 furlong journey. After the first ¼ mile General Chimera had forged his way to the lead but was still racing a bit wide. Ghouls Gold was stuck to his outside while running in 2nd, with Devine And Broke and Stranger in 3rd and 4th respectively. A half mile into the race General Chimera had moved to the rail and decided to power away from his competition. Stranger had also made and early move along the inside and had moved his way into 2nd just ahead of Ghouls Gold. After the ¾ of a mile mark the top 2 in the running order went unchanged however Stanger had moved off the rail and looked as if he was going to make a run at this long time leader. Hardline who had also been wide the whole race had powered his way to 3rd and was hoping to make a run at this leader. At the one mile marker Stranger had already made his big move and powered to the lead running by General Chimera like he was standing still who had fallen back to 2nd, however Hyper Silver who had moved wide was moving like a freight train and had moved into 3rd and Visa Vice was closing and in 4th. While Stanger looked strong on the lead Hyper Silver ultimately ran him down in the final furlong and stormed away to a victory. Stranger held on for 2nd and Visa Vice was able to get up for 3rd.
