Hyper Silver Looks to Put the Youngsters in Their Place

San Diego Handicap – Grade II
DMR   Race #8   1 1/16m   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $200.000  For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1 Prince Of Monaco, trained by Nakamura Stables
The winner of nearly $1,000.000, this four year old has been in good form this year without
being really tested. The winner of two open allowances he has bypassed the tough three year old
competition in the stakes races and has been trucking along nicely. He gets into this disappointing
field with a great chance of getting back into black type winning ways and over his perfect trip
must have a lively chance.

2 Fumble, trained by Mb Stables
Another who was a very good three year old with a grade one second to his name he has also been side
stepping the three year olds in stakes races and also comes here ready to start his season with a win.
Placed in all his efforts this year he is working nicely and has a good chance in this weak field.

3 Steel Stuffed, trained by Mb Stables
I will repeat myself as this place finisher in last years BC Derby has also been busy avoiding the
three year olds in stakes races. He has been pretty successful mopping up his last three races from
TAM to PIM and is in rock solid form with bottom weight, always a good combination.

4 Cju, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Only managed a maiden win at the end of last year but has been well tested this year and has run some
nice races. Placed in the OP Handicap he won the LS Handicap in his last race and is clearly an improving
sort. The top weight may be enough to slow him down today though as he has to give weight away all round
as unfair as it may seem.

5 Hyper Silver, trained by Night Rider Stables
The only horse that isnt a four year old and isnt far off double the age of the others. The biggest earner in
the race he gets in here with a very fair weight especially as he hit triple digit speed figures when fifth
in the Gold cup last time. A good second in the PIM Special before that run showed us that he is as good as
ever at age 7 and although his work times arent setting the world alight he will still be very hard to beat.

SUMMARY
This is a pretty average field for a $200 open race but such is racing and five horses get a good chance
to win a nice purse. There isnt much between them and i think i may just favor Hyper Silver to get a narrow win.
