The Grade 3 Commonwealth had the appearance of a wide-open race, and that would play out with a tight, three-way photo occurring at the wire. Prevailing in that would be Ideal Info, a gelding trained by Arindel that needed a good race after a couple of stinkers leading into it. While this is a horse that ran in the KYD last year, he actually had not won a race since last February, Now, that winless streak is snapped, and we will have to see if he can continue this positive momentum going forward. Celebrating the win is Arindel, and it is his first Commonwealth trophy. L Saez is the winning rider, and it’s his first win as well in this race. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:21.28, the third quickest in the history of the race, and the fastest since 2011. Let’s take a look at it!
(1/4 Mile- :22.97)- Looking to win this race for the second year in a row, Spanky Barn’s Street Edge goes right to the lead, but he has some company right alongside him as Martyparty’s Dancing Rattler is not going to let him get away. These two are a length ahead of a couple of stalkers, with our other dancer, Gdp Inc’s Dance Main being one of them and Crimson Sun is right next to him while on the rail for Riggins Racing. In the middle of the field, Two More Wishes is fifth for D J C Racing Stables, but within two lengths of the leaders. Nearby to his outside, we have our eventual winner as Arindel’s Ideal Info is in the fourth lane. Trailing is Confirmation for TwinTowersRacing, but even he is no more than four lengths out of it.
(1/2 Mile- :46.06)- At the front of the field, we get a good battle going on between Street Edge and Dancing Rattler as they run side by side and exchange the lead a couple of times. They’re not pulling away from the rest of the field, but we do get a new third place horse as Ideal Info takes advantage of the clear lane in front of him to take that spot. Neither Dance Man nor Crimson Sun are not going anywhere, however, and are within a quarter length of him. Two More Wishes runs right there with the group, and it’s another length to Confirmation.
(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- The run around the turn sees Dancing Rattler begin to win out over Street Edge as the reigning winner of the race starts to drop back. Ideal Info remains in the third position, and since he has been running in a four wide position, we have not seen him cut the deficit on the top two yet. However, there was plenty of time for that. Crimson Sun was still looking good with the benefit of being on the rail. Dance Man lost some ground to him, and Two More Wishes was still running steady to his rivals, but not making a push. Neither was Confirmation, who is still at the rear of the field.
(Finish- 1:21.28)- With a furlong to go, it looks like Dancing Rattler is going to pull this one off as he holds his length lead. Ideal Info had not made a push yet and Crimson Sun also had not gained any ground. However, just when it looked like he was going to pull this one off, he may have begun to tire just a little while both Ideal Info and Crimson Sun kept with it and made their last strides count. In the end, we would have a very tight photo between these three, and after looking at it closely, it was clear that Ideal Info won the race by a head. There was no clarity as to who the second-place runner was, though, and a dead heat between Dancing Rattler and Crimson Sun was declared. Fourth goes to Two More Wishes as he tops Dance Man, Street Edge, and Confirmation.
About The Winner- Ideal Info, trained by Arindel and ridden to victory by L Saez, is a four-year-old gelding by Declassified and is out of Miss Ideal Phooey. He was bred by Fractious as a third quarter two-year-old in California and was acquired by Arindel in a private sale for $450.000 in January 2022. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his third in fourteen starts, and his first stake win. His career earnings are now $570.200.
