KD has established a nice little niche for itself.  Located 40-miles north of Nashville, KD offers horsemen a chance to bring their turf runners to a Euro-style course with its undulating ground.  A new offering for 2yo turfers comes this year with the $500.000 KD Juvenile Sprint.  The first installment has drawn a field of nine and looks to be a competitive beginning for the new stake.  Here is the field for the inaugural $500.000 KD Juvenile Sprint:

#1 Talisheek (Acber Farms/E. Jaramillo): Rail-horse enters off of a second-place performance in the $125.000 Soaring Free at WO.  That race was preceeded by the maiden-breaker vs PA-breds at PRX.  Not many knocks on this contender and the post only adds to his appeal.

#2 Crack The Pink (Gdp Inc/Ru. Gonzalez): Didn’t run all that poorly in that 6th-place effort in the Skidmore as he was wide throughout after getting a late start and never really quit running.  This post should give him a better chance to show his best, but needs a bit of improvement if he wants to factor.

#3 Doctor Divo (TwinTowersRacing/G. Saez): Youngster will make his first start from stall three after three dirt assignments to begin his career.  Comes here fresh after finding tough-sledding at GP in July.  Works say he has a chance and can’t blame anyone for shooting their shot when the time comes.

#4 Full Speed (Mb Stables/J.R. Velazquez): Four-horse broke his maiden, and the author’s heart, at first-asking at the Spa just fifteen days before this one.  Barn sends two for this and no published works since, but have every confidence that the conditioner knows what he has in this guy.  Respect.

#5 Stormcoat (Arindel/T.J. Pereira): Middle of the gate will be covered by stablemates as this guy breaks to the inside of his stablemate.  This guy has raced best up near the pace and he should handle this trip.  Took four starts to break his maiden, but he is a major threat to make it two in a row.

#6 White Walker (Arindel/T. Gaffalione): Maiden breaks beside his stablemate and may appreciate the extra furlong he gets in this.  Was only beaten a diminishing length in the aforementioned SAR MSW so any kind of improvement may get him in front of the track photographer.

#7 Touch Of Irish (Mb Stables/S. Ryan): Second entrant for the barn doesn’t draw as well as his stablemate; however, all he’s done is win races in his brief three-race career.  Took the Hickory Tree in his latest which was his first start on the lawn.  Would be no surprise if he made it four-for-four.

#8 Dereliction Of Duty (Alydar Stables/Mario Gutierrez): He’s a perfect two-for-two since the vet visit with the latter being the $75.000 Tyro.  Doesn’t draw the best here, but could nullify that with his early foot.  No reason to think the 6.5 furlongs is beyond his scope and he is another that rates a significant chance.

#9 Han Solo (Keikowin Racing/A. Cedillo): Outside horse exits the vet’s office after breaking his maiden against Cal-bred foes at DMR last time.  Hasn’t made a turf start yet; however, those latest two breezes on the grass say he can contend.  May look to drop to the rail from the start as he was well off the pace in his latest and should have a solid pace in front of him.

Final Analysis: One look at the author’s own 2yo record tells you all you need to know about his handle on the juveniles, but they’ll cross the wire 1-4-7 in the inaugural $500.000 KD Juvenile Turf Sprint.  Good luck to all of the horses and their connections!
