TX Mile (GIII)

Seems that the second time is the charm for Indian Chief… making his second start against graded stakes company, the Scorpion Stables trained 3yo colt closed well from mid-pack to get the job done by a length in the TX Mile (GIII), getting the distance in 1:34 and 4/5ths over a fast LS track.  Akimbo made a big run from way back in the field to finish second and Dojea likewise showed some late foot to grab the third spot.

Indian Chief is a 3yo black colt by Chief Prospector – Miyanaka, by Seamus and he was bred in California by his owner, Scorpion Stables.  This was his third win from eight starts, his first stakes win, and he now has earnings of $181.640.

Indian Chief evenly, set down for the drive, responded, won driving.  Akimbo no early speed, responded when asked, good late foot, out-finished.  Dojea in hand early, steady gain, evenly late.  Freak Event off a step slow, passed tiring rivals.  Out Of Line rated, rushed up to contend, tired in the late going.  Yes Its True quick start, pressed the leader, took the lead into the lane, tired.  Fortunately away well, pressed, wilted.  Texas Dandy sent from the gate to set the pace, led to midway on the far turn, stopped.
