1st Indian Summer Diablo Diablo Castellano J J 3.15 11 1:43.36

The wet track was a bit of a worry before the off, but this BC runner up took luck out of the equation and used the race engine perfectly to set up a one length win and put herself back at the top of her game. She managed to lead on a good pace but with no real challengers she was left to set the pace that suited her, and she never really looked in danger of being caught. I am very pleased that she is back, and a second BC appearance looks on the radar for this daughter of Cherokee Sunset.

2nd Solar Coast Smokey Stover Hernandez C J 7.15 21/2 1:43.60

I must say that is this filly didn’t make it to your watch list after this effort, then I don’t know what will. Drawn in the car park the owner elected for restraint and she drifted right out of it early on. For a filly with only two starts and both over five furlongs it wasn’t clear what would happen next, but we all knew she had some ability after her last work and when she started to pick up ground there were a few breaths being held. In the end the race engine slowed her advance enough to see her take second, but it does make you wonder with a better draw and more aggressive tactics what she may have done.

3rd Jerry West La Canada Racehorses Bridgmohan S X 9.05 3no 1:43.72

Considering this was her first run in stakes company she acquitted herself very well. She kept on strongly enough at the end to suggest she will lap up the classic trip, and I wouldn’t be writing her off after this run especially when she meets a ninth or tenth furlong.

4th Bronze Cake Party Martyparty Silvera Ru 12.90 4nk 1:43.73

Stalked the leader from a wide draw which took a lot out of her and not surprisingly she faded at the end. This was a big step up for her today though and she coped pretty well, so I think a race like this is within her scope in the future.
