Vigil Stakes – Grade III
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Wild Glory, trained by Paradise Stables
It’s always nice when a stable reaches a milestone and Paradise Stables reached a very impressive milestone as they notched their 100th graded stakes winner with Wild glory. Unusually the six year old failed to compete with the early lead which was probably due to the fast early pace and may have turned out to be a godsend for the tough gelding. Getting into it turning for home he finished best of all for a half-length win and recorded his first triple digit speed figure since June last year. Clearly this old battler retains his ability and needs a fast early pace and things played into his hands perfectly today.
2nd Fast Review, trained by Sanny Village
Another admirable old battler it looked like his brave bid to make all was going to pay off for a while but he paid for his fast start late on and in the end had to settle for second. This was his third placed finish in a row in this grade and it can’t be long before he adds to his impressive 12 win tally.
3rd Five Star Five, trained by D J C Racing Stable
The question still remains as to which trip this horse prefers as he put in a fair effort but looked outpaced in the stretch. Finishing third he clearly isn’t as good as he was as a three year old and has been struggling to win for a while now, it will be interesting to see what his trainer does next with the entire.
4th Impending Decision, trained by Night Rider Stables
Disputed last for a while and never really got into it. It looks now as if his best days are behind him.
5th Revolutionary, trained by Night Mare Racing
Pressured the early lead and stuck around for a good while before fading into last. This wasn’t a bad effort but he may be more at home in handicaps and overnights.
