Consider Jacks Courage a fan of the new race engine. After unsuccessfully trying stakes’ company twice as a juvenile, the gelding began his sophomore campaign with the first black-type victory of his budding career as he powered home to take the $125.000 Pasco Stakes. The Saturday feature at TAM, the Pasco victory is the first versus winners for Jacks Corage as he improved to 8-2-3-0 with $176.000 in earnings.
Jacks Courage broke running but found himself five-wide racing in 3rd after an opening quarter went in :22.87. Jockey A.A. Gallardo was able to inch inside a path as he continued down the backside and maneuvered his mount just off of the leader’s flank. The Mb Stables-trainee moved for the lead just before he completed a half in :46-flat.
Now on the lead, Jacks Courage moved to the rail as he put away the dueling pacesetters. The winner held a two-length advantage as he posted three-quarters in 1:09.49. Jacks Courage did drift out throughout the final furlong; however, he was kept to his task as he held a rallying Only Just The Start a length away when he hit the wire in 1:22.03. Roswell ran on to be third, just a neck in front of Thundera while Open The Gates, Shesterkin, Re Aggravation, Sorriso, Zaro, and Cheyenne Warrior completed the order of finish.
