1. Jamfest Owned by Jkk Racing Stables Lezcano J
Back in April Jamfest ran in the Elusive Quality stakes at BEL where he would run against Four Year Olds and Upward going 7 furlongs on the sod. He went gate to wire to win the 60% of the $100.000 purse. Then he stretched out to a mile on the lawn in his next start in June at BEL in the Grade III Poker Handicap. Once again he went gate to wire to win by four lengths. Stretches out another furlong here, but with the 104 SRF speed figure last time out, you can only hope for good things here, as he moves up in Graded Stakes company today.
2. Bold Pretender Owned by RNP Stables Desormeaux K J
Did not run well to finish fourth in the Grade III Louisville Handicap at CD. His most recent race was the Grade III San Juan Capistrano Stakes going 1 ½ mile on the sod at SA. He went gate to wire to win and post a 101 SRF speed figure. Looks like a long shot here ,but maybe this 7 year old still has some in the tank.
3. Tin Lizzie Owned by Stald Gullis Alvarado R Jr
To find a win you have to look three back to April at PIM where he ran 5 furlongs on the law against Optional Claimers $25.000 Non Winners of 3 races. In this race he came from off the pace to score a victory by a neck. Today he will not have such an easy crowd to face, then he did in his last couple of off performances in Optional Claimer $80.000 Non Winners of 3 races.
4. Sir Tom Owned by Brave Landeros C
Won his last at CD in late June in the Grade II Firecracker where he came from mid pack to rally in the final couple furlongs to get the job done by two lengths. Prior to that you have to go back two more races to find a win in the Grade III Miami Mile at GP where he did the same coming from off the pace to win by a half length. Could easily be your second choice here.
5. Hollywood Freak Owned by Mb Stables Pennington F
Has been facing Grade I company for some time now. Ran in the Shoemaker Mile Grade I at SA just last month and could not get things going to finish fourth by a neck. Prior to that he was in the Man O War Grade I at BEL in May where he struggled to finish seventh. Three back at KEE he ran in the Makers Mark Mile Grade I where he pulled off a head win. He is not as consistent as I’d like to see, but definitely has the resume to be here.
6. Breiterate Owned by Sanny Village Rosario J
Won the Manhattan Handicap Grade I at BEL last month on BEL Stakes day by a nose. Has a 75% in the money percentage this year out of 4 starts. This last race looked really good as he went 1 ¼ mile on the sod. Cutting back 1 furlong could improve his chances here.
7. Skipping Stone Owned by Night Rider Stables Baze T C
Showed horribly in the Manhattan Handicap Grade I to finish 12th. To find a win this year you have to go back to January where he raced at SA in the Grade II San Gabriel Stakes where he came from off the pace to capture a one length win. Since then he has struggled and has not performed above that SRF speed figure that he produced then. I think he may be on the decline in this Grade I stakes company.
Iwin picks: 1-4-5
The Tout picks: 1-6-2
