1 Magic Command Allinthegate Lanerie C J
Took a free track maiden on debut and then followed that up with a game neck win at allowance level at SAR. That win was against some decent sorts and it is clear that she is much better than her debut placing suggests. A great draw and a 10% jockey add to her chances.
2 City Of Soul John Henry Van Dyke D
Another unbeaten filly she took the Shady Well Stakes last time with a game neck win and has been busy working out over the mile since and doing enough to suggest se is ready for this trip. At only 15.1 she may find the 120 and the distance a bit tough but that is balanced out by a great draw and a 10% jockey.
3 Cookie Queen First Street Stables Gilligan J
A consistent sort who has won a cheque in all her races she has unfortunately drawn an 8% jockey so may find this too tough.
4 Jessica Jones Treaux Farms Bridgmohan S X
Looked very good in her first two races and then ran a cracker in the Adirondack when finishing strongly for a close third. She clearly loves the mud and any rain will increase her chances ten fold but i also think she is pretty good on dry too. Draws a ten percent jockey and gets a great gate she should be flying at the end.
5 Lucky Pivot Serenity Stables Stevens G L
Gets the out of form G L Stevens but her trainer will be glad for a ten percenter considering she is far form the best form horse in the race. She did well enough from a wide gate over a mile last time and worked a nice 1.37 and 2 last time suggesting there is more to come over this trip.
6 Obvious Fraud Nakamura Stables Morales E
Gets the other 8% jockey so despite soe strong works and decent form she may find it tough today.
7 Mach Eight First Class Stable Rocco J S Jr
Won a good maiden on debut proving she is pretty forward for a juvenile but has disappointed in her two races since. Her last effort in the Adirondack was a little lack lustre but it may have been the mud that caused that so she is entitled to give an improved showing on better ground.
8 Made It Through Mb Stables Leparoux J R
Just nosed out of a win in the Adirondack she had a few of her rivals in this race behind her that day so is entitled to beat them again today. Gets a good jockey to counteract a difficult draw but my main worry in her rather sedate 1.38 work suggesting she may not be looking for this sort of trip yet.
9 Kaikoura Smokey Stover McMahon C J
She hasnt raced like a filly that is crying out for this trip but she has bags of ability and her works suggest that she wont be inconvenienced by a mile plus. Nosed out in the Schylerville she didnt like the mud in the Adirondack last time and faded from the lead. Slightly more restrained today and i can see her running a big race.
10 Navette Fractious Saez G
One of the more experienced fillies in the race there was plenty to like about her fourth in the Sorrento Stakes last time but a wide draw and a 9% jockey may be too much against this even looking field. Must be in with a punchers chance if she can get some luck in running.
11 Viking Birthday Delta Farms Quinonez A
The winner of two from three i think she is a real chance in this sort of race but has a couple of obstacles to overcome first. The draw will be tough and she has an out of form 9% jockey as well so today may not be her day but i do think she will turn out to be a top routing filly going forward.
12 Heartworm Hanny Jive Inc. Santana R Jr
A solid enough sort she draws a 10% jockey which is great but is stuck with an outside draw so that may be too much in a race of this quality. Her recent work suggests she may run out of stamina but she was still going at the end of her last run over seven furlongs so it may not be the biggest of her problems.
SUMMARY
There has to be plenty of respect around the two unbeaten fillies in Magic Command and City Of Soul but i rather think Jessica Jones and Kaikoura may have too much class for their rivals.
