Jolly Rook carried a co-high weight of 125 and raced no fewer than three-wide for the entirety of the one-mile distance of the $100.000 Tiznow Stakes at SA on Monday.  Turns out, neither impost nor trip were enough to keep him from powering through the SA stretch to complete his journey in 1:34.50 and record the 8th win of a 26-race career.  With his share of the Tiznow purse, Jolly Rook has now earned $1,707.660.

It was a bit of an oddball beginning for this iteration of the race engine as they broke 2x4x1 for the moments just after the gates sprang.  Fallacious broke best from post five with Mr Charming running with him on the inside.  Behind them, Jolly Rook was the outside marker of a four-horse pack while Code Red Party took back and trailed the field.  Fallacious won the early battle for the lead but he was unable to clear Mr Charming by the time they reached the first turn.  Things appeared even worse for Jolly Rook as he was pushed out another path when Pocantico moved off of the rail as Fallacious completed the opening quarter in :23.69.

By the time Fallacious completed four furlongs in :47.18 Jolly Rook had moved up to a joint second, but he was every bit of four wide.  Fallacious finally made his way to the rail just after entering the turn for home and hit three-quarters in 1:10.44.  It was at that point that Jolly Rook moved to the three path and immediately set sail for the front.  Jolly Rook made the lead just inside the furlong pole and was driven out to finish a length in front of Fallacious.  Pocantico won the battle for show honors over Itsallupfromhere while Buckskin, Mr Charming, and Code Red Party completed the order of finish.

Congratulations to Jolly Rook and Angelos Stable for their victory in the Tiznow Stakes at SA.
