The Key Cents- $100.000 Purse
AQU- For Fillies Two Years Old Foaled In NY
Six Furlongs on the Dirt
November 16, 2019
A field of five will be heading the track at the Big A for the sixth running of the Key Cents. This is a smaller stake for NY-bred females which runs six furlongs. Last year, the race was won by a filly named Back Country for La Canada Racehorses, which at the time was her fourth win in five starts. Though she seemed destined to build on that success, she was never really able to this year. 2016 winner Eastern Sky had the most success of any past winner, and is the one that our runners here can hope to emulate. This is a race that does not have a standout. None of the runners in the field have won $100.000 in their career thus far. Therefore, expect a wide open race between up and coming fillies looking to get a big win to further build on. Here’s the field!
#1- Flying Swan (The Sidley Stud, ridden by I Ortiz Jr)- This filly is the most experienced of any in the field, as she makes her seventh start here. In that time, she has regularly run in NY-bred races, and has a couple of second place showings in them, highlighted by the Seeking The Ante at Saratoga. She should like that this is a shorter race then ones she has been in recently, and has as good a shot of any in here to get it done.
#2- All Inclusive (Mb Stables, ridden by J Alvarado)- She made her debut on the main track in May at RP, and won the race. Ever since then, she has been on the grass and her last three races have seen her going at least a mile as well against outstanding company in the Grade 1 Natalma and Grade 2 Jessamine. For her to be here off of those races is an interesting audible being called by the top trainer in the game. Had an excellent work here on Tuesday.
#3- Orient Point (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by M Franco)- So far, she has won half of her four races, taking her maiden at PRX as well as getting an allowance win at the track the trainer likes to dominate, FL. Tried a NY-bred stake in her last, the Gimma, and was third of five. Not sure what to make of that. Flying Swan was second in the same race.
#4- Local Glitter (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by J R Velazquez)- The Local Hero filly has also won two races thus far, but in one more race then her stablemate. She was last seen on the track right here at AQU for the Maid Of The Mist, and ran third in that mile long race. That was a better finish in the race then Flying Swan had. I like how she had been running in her sprints, and they make her a strong shot here.
#5- Ms Pea (Aer Stables, ridden by J Lezcano)- In her last race, she took part in a $40.000 maiden claimer at BEL and got the win. That was just her second start, and it’s safe to say the trainer feels a lot differently now then he did before that race about her. It may have been the work that followed up that race, as her bullet at PRX was very impressive. No reason why she can’t get a win here.
Prediction: 4-2-5-1
