The Jaipur – Grade I [BC]
6 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Kid Commander Allinthegate Velazquez J R
On a day at BEL when wide trips seem to have little or no detriment this was another winner that had no problem staying wide and not searching for the rail after losing the start. Stalking the lead he timed his run perfectly to pass the leader and hold the closer’s by a neck. This five year old is an underrated sprinter with an amazing record of 12 wins from 18 starts and really has snuck under the radar to become a very serious contender for the BC turf sprint. His last three wins in the San Simeon, the TS Sprint and this race have been huge especially when in each case he has shown the heart of a lion and a refusal to flinch that is only found in great horses.
The great thing for this stable is that they bred him and that is a wonderful feeling and a great achievement and i am sure he has become a real stable favorite.
2nd Insist Always Mb Stables Jaramillo E
Broke clearly to the lead and looked the winner for a long way but as they entered the final furlong the writing looked to be on the wall. He was very game though and kept going really strongly it was just this sixth furlong that seemed to find him out. There is no doubt he is an improving sprinter and he has a nice future ahead of him.
3rd Owl Cat Rock Creek Court J K
Considering this was his first at this level he ran a cracker and looked like he had grabbed second until the photo proved otherwise. Clearly better than the level he has been running in i think he is maturing into a decent sprinter and there must be a good race on his radar now.
4th Cold Weather Rider Night Rider Stables Saez L
Not many closer’s did the job today and considering this one made all the running to dead heat with Kid Commander in the TS Sprint last time it was an interesting choice to see him run the trail today. Whether it was the new HRP slow start or whether the trainer decided to give it a go we wont know but to be fair to him he ran a very good race considering. Running home really strongly he was only a length back at the end and i wouldn’t be worried about future efforts after this slightly below par effort.
