The MTH Oaks- GIII
MTH Race 6 1 1/16M- Dirt
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds Fillies
A small field will be lining up in the starting gate for this years Monmouth Oaks as there is only five entries for this race. It might be a small field but it is not short on talent as some very nice fillies are entered up in here like Ghost Havoc and La Terrifiant. Let’s take a look at all of the runners.
1. Ghost Havoc (11-2-1-4 $175.520), trained by D J C Racing Stables
Here is a very talented filly who has changed hands a lot this year as she has had three different trainers this year already. She has been close in a bunch of stakes races but just cant seem to get to the wire first for some reason. She didn’t good last time but that was a grade one with older horses. She has a good shot in here.
2. La Terrifiant (11-3-4-1 $1,772.400), trained by Our Athletes
Last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies winner enters up in here trying to just get her first win on the year. She has been knocking on the door with two second and a third in the Kentucky Oaks since Our Athletes bought her. While I don’t think she is as good as her two year old year she looks like the winner in here.
3. Dortmund (11-6-2-1 $138.600), trained by John Henry
Now I know this filly has six career wins and all but the one thing that scares me is that none of those have been going around two turns they have all come sprinting. And she hasn’t won against very tough horses either since she just won a starter allowance in her last start. She needs to be able to route to have a chance.
4. Merril (4-2-0-0 $6.820), trained by Aer Stables
I’m definitely confused on why this horse is entered in this race because she just won a four dollar claimer and is now jumping all the way up to grade three company. I guess taking a shot in a short gate is the best train for this entry but I don’t think she has any chance in the world of winning.
5. Dashing Throughout (23-7-2-3 $113.220), trained by Toppedout
Well this filly is definitely not short on. Any experience with her already having twenty three starts this early in a racing career is almost unbelievable. Basically if there is a stakes race that she fits and the gate goes up she will be in there ready to run. I don’t give her much of a chance though.
Summary
Well is a small field but I definitely think that this is a good field and a good race will come out of it. La Terrifiant definitely looks like the standout to me but I think Ghost Havoc could also win. The others are running for third I think but hey you never know what will happen and we’ll just have to see what happens.
