The Intercontinental – Grade III
6 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Lady Of Lord Our Athletes Gutierrez Mario
The track seemed to be playing for the speed holding up which suited this career sprinter who went out hard and ran a pace that the routers just couldn’t match. She is really building into a consistent and classy type and the fact that she couldn’t win this race last year in a slower time suggests at six she is still improving.
2nd Ewa Beach The American Velazquez J R
Stalked the lead and tried really hard which considering this is a mare that was third in the BC Fillies and Mares Turf and its usually stamina that comes with age was a big effort. She has certainly built a decent sprinting record this season, but I feel the reason she came to sprinting was more to do with a drop off in her route form and I am not sure there is much better to come. This was another big effort though and who is to say she won’t be at the BC this year.
3rd Great Beneficiary Smokey Stover Dettori L
The other career sprinter she went with the winner, and they had a wonderful duel until this one just found the sixth furlong too much.
4th Early Fire Maxmillion Farm Hernandez R M
Pretty much held her place throughout and never got a blow in on the leaders, a fair effort.
