Las Cinegas Stakes is Very Competitive

The Las Cinegas Stakes – GIII
SA Race 6 6 1/2F – Turf
Purse $100.000
Four Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

This years edition of the Las Cinegas will have seven fillies and mares going down the downhill turf course here at Santa Anita. It is a pretty tough looking field and there is definitely some good fillies and mares in this race. It looks like it is going to be a good and exciting for sure.

1. Lancashire Hotpot (13-6-5-0 $220.100), trained by Blazin D

Now this filly right here is coming into this race off of a stakes win at Tampa Bay going five furlongs on the lawn. She won that four horse field by a length and ran a pretty quick time also. She is going to have to stretch out to this six and a half furlong distance but I don’t think it will hurt her at all. She has a pretty good chance.

2. Ghost In Your Heart (7-1-2-1 $35.680), trained by Maxmillion Farm

This filly right here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in an optional claimer here at Santa Anita on this downhill turf course. She is very outclassed it looks to me and she is lightly raced up to this point. She will definitely have to run her biggest race of her career if she wants to win in this spot for sure.

3. Moonlight Bliss (11-5-0-3 $365.580), trained by Fractious

Now here is a very tough filly and she is a graded stakes winner over this turf course back in November. She won the grade two Goldikova by two lengths. She just ran seventh in the grade one Matriarch by three lengths after trying to set the pace. She might like this cutback in distance pretty nicely and she definitely has a chance.

4. Balais Bruit (34-14-8-3 $902.540), trained by Drabfantasy

Here is a prime example of a good classy mare because she can do just about anything. She can run short or long and she can run on the dirt or turf. She is coming off of a statebred stakes win on the dirt last out but she has won on the turf before so the surface should be no problem. She has a decent chance in here.

5. Smokin Nebulae (24-5-6-5 $1021.000), trained by Drabfantasy

The second runner from the barn of Drabfantasy is another very classy mare and she has been in some very tough races in her career. She is coming into this spot off of a twelfth place finish in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf. I’m not sure how she will take this cutback in distance but I think she has a chance if she likes it.

6. Fomalhaut (22-5-9-2 $401.380), trained by John Henry

This filly here is also a very nice filly for sure and she is coming into this race off of a second place finish in a stakes race at Golden Gate on the turf going a mile and a sixteenth. I think she has a pretty good chance if she likes the distance. She will need to run a big race of course but she has a very good chance to win.

7. Insinuation (4-0-2-2 $14.460), trained by Williams9

Now here we have a maiden in the race but at least this isn’t a very bad maiden because she did run second in an optional claimer last time at Gulfstream. She is a maiden and it definitely looks like she is up against it but I don’t think she will get crushed in this spot at all and she may even beat one or two.

Summary

Now this here is a very solid field for sure and it will definitely be a tough race and there is some very good fillies and mares in this field. This race will be very exciting and most of this field is very even for sure.
