The GP Turf Sprint – Grade III
5 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $125.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

Beaten by Best Ever in their last two encounters I think we can safely say it was the conditions that beat him and today we saw the best of this five-year-old who was carrying a third from the BC Turf Sprint into this race as the best form guide. Today, in following with the new engine, he made the running for the first time in his 31-race career and took bad luck out of the equation. He certainly didn’t have it easy pushed the whole way he set some impressive splits but still had the class to hold them at bay. On a fast track I think this is an under rated sprinter who could easily better his last BC effort come November.

In his previous three races on this track, he had won all three over this trip in faster times and he set out on speed today bothering the winner for the entire trip but in the end, it wasn’t game that beat him it was class. He certainly kept trying and never flinched, but he just could not get past the winner who may turn out to be one of the better sprinters in the game, so this was a very good effort. We all know that another day could bring a different result so i hop these two go at it all the way to the BC.

The owner will breathe a sigh of relief that this one ran better today after a couple of poor runs since being bought from Mb Stables. He never looked like getting to the first two but kept on really well for an encouraging effort and i feel he now has something to build from.
4th Best Ever Night Rider Stables Stein J 2.05 41/2 :56.67
Considering he had beaten the winner in their last two meetings you may think the race favorite was a little disappointing but i think the conditions played a major part today. He seems a few lengths better on an off track whereas this may be his mark on a dry surface so it will be up to the owner to chase the rain for his future efforts.
