The pace was strong enough here for the back marker to come through and run over the top of them, pretty much the opposite of the race before. This was a deserved win for a gelding that has been close up twice before in this type of race.

Started favorite but went too hard early on and set the race up for the closer. These first two had been racing each other before and the different tactics today saw this one’s worst result against the winner, so I suspect there may be some restraint if they meet again.

3rd Aether Angelos Stable Parker D L

Sometimes it is better to lead on a fast pace than stalk a fast pace and that is where this one’s race fell over. He held a good enough position, but when the race is on down the stretch it always seems to be the deeper closers that run over the stalkers.

4th Troubadour Mb Stables Cohen D

Another that suffered from stalking a fast pace rather than leading, he faded the worst of this four-horse field but was only beaten two lengths in the end. I guess from gate one he did the right thing, but today he just wasn’t good enough.
