Five And A Half Furlongs on the Dirt

In her last race, Lead Me On finished second to Paris Pinnacle Party in the Zareta, a similar race for TX-bred fillies. In the TTA Sales Futurity’s filly division, she had the opportunity to get some revenge and turn the tables. She would run this race a little further off the pace than she had done in the Zareta, and used a strong stretch run to get the victory! She is trained by Broken Spoke Stables and gives the trainer their first win in the stake. This is also true for jockey D Cabrera. Congratulations to them! The race was run in a time of 1:03.50, which is the quickest of the editions of the race run at five and a half furlongs. Let’s take a look!

(¼ Mile- :22.66)- Boozilla shoots out of the gate quickest of them all for Woogaloo and almost immediately opens up a two length lead. It would be an even larger advantage, too, if it were not for second place Ginger Angel, trained by The Sidley Stud, being an additional length and a half over the rest of the field. After these two, we have a three wide group, and the eventual winner, Lead Me On, is in the middle of it for Broken Spoke Stables, allowing her to have a clear lane for the turn and going forward. Luz International’s Lil Rebel is to her inside, and technically a head in front of her. Her stablemate Cumonfeelthenoize is three wide. Next comes the party, in the form of Paris Pinnacle Party (Mb Stables) and Bad Bronze Party (Martyparty), with Southside of Heaven (Broken Spoke Stables) trailing the field.

(½ Mile- :45.83, Top Of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Boozilla continues to lead early in the turn, but predictably that lead shrinks about midway through the turn. It was impressive how quickly Ginger Angel cut into the lead as they reached the exit and prepared to run into the stretch. By this point, she was within a half a length from the lead. The rest of the field was closing as well, with Lead Me On taking the third spot and being within a length and a half of Ginger Angel, who’d now be the rival to concern her the most. Lil Rebel hung tough in the fourth spot, though the same cannot be said for stablemate Cumonfeelthenoize, who lost some ground. The party horses were yet to make a move and Southside Of Heaven still lingered at the back.

(Finish- 1:03.50)- In the stretch, Ginger Angel still had plenty of run and looked good, but Lead Me On accepted the challenge and did everything she could while running to the outside. In the late moments of the stretch, Lead Me On was able to pull up alongside her and complete the pass, getting a well earned half length victory over her rival. Ginger Angel looked good here too as she completes the exacta. Paris Pinnacle Party moved past tiring rivals to be third, but was never a threat for anything more. Give Lil Rebel fourth and the rest of the field was well back and disappointments. The final order is Bad Bronze Party, Southside Of Heaven, Cumonfeelthenoize, and Boozilla.

About The Winner- Lead Me On, trained by Broken Spoke Stables and ridden to victory by D Cabrera is a two year old filly by Strategic Command, and is out of Hollywood Spy. She was bred in Texas by her trainer as a first quarter two year old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her second in three starts, and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $81.000.
